英検準１級２次試験アドバイス④

2020年第3回英検S-CBT(準1級)のスピーキングの２分間のナレーションについて、うろ覚えですが、出来る限り英語で、書き起こしてみました。

【経費を削減したいと思っているある会社の社長の話】
ある日、ある会社の社長が執務室にいました。
1.会社の利益が年々下がっているグラフを見ていた時、会社の利益を改善するために、何かをする必要があると考えた。
2.役員会議で、人員削減と残業ゼロの２つのうちどちらを導入しようか、と議論していた。会議参加者の役員全員が【後者】に賛成した。
3.一週間後、午後５時になって、従業員が帰宅する準備をしていた。その社長は、残業代を払う必要がなく、経費を節約できるからと、とても喜んだ。
4.1ヶ月後、二人の従業員が執務室にやって来た。一人の従業員が(ABC)プロジェクトが予定よりも遅れている、と社長に報告した。その社長は何が起こったのか懸念していた。

One day, a company president was in his office. When he was looking at a graph that showed the company’s profit was decreasing year by year. He thought that they need to do something to improve the company’s profit.
At the executives’ meeting, he was discussing two ideas to cut costs with the other executives. One was cutting stuff members, and the other was 【doing no overtime】. All the executives at the meeting agreed that 【the later】was better.
A week later, it was after 5 p.m., and the employees in the office were getting ready to leave. The president was very glad [pleased] because the company would not have to【pay overtime】and could save money.
A month later, however, two employees came to his office.One of them reported to him that the project was behind schedule. He was concerned about what had happened.

このナレーションのひっかけは、過去問は今まで見た限り、２コマ目で、会議参加者全員が【前者】に賛成していたシーンがほとんどであること。２コマ目で【後者】に賛成していたのは、初めて見ました。また、【残業ゼロ】や【残業代ゼロ】という社会的背景に対応できる用語がすぐに言えるかどうか。(私は２コマ目で終わりました。)どちらになっても、瞬発的に言えるまで過去問を練習することが大切だと感じました。今後の英検準1級(S-CBTも含めて)の試験対策に参考にしていただければ幸いです。
